About my Learning

This year my favorite thing was doing learning games on the computer.
My favourite game is playing mathletics because you can compete against your classmates and other students from around the world.

We also used a Web 2.0 tool called Storybird to make our own stories. In this website, you got to choose the characters for the story and you can get pages like in this picture.

Mrs M had to help us a lot at the beginning of the year, but now I know how to login, how to do a post, how to seach the internet and use a computer safely.

By using my blog page, I can reflect on my learning and my other interests outside of school. For my reflection on the Tangalooma visit, I used Photopeach to show the images of all that I learnt.

It is nearly the end of the year and I will be sad to leave 2M. I will be confident to do more on my blog page next year when I move to Year 3.

Cameron Stelzer visit

Today a Brisbane author and illustrator came to  our school.  His name Cameron Stelzer and he is  part of "The Stroogle"books.

This is a picture of him. He  liked drawing pictures and so he thought that he could make a book and turn it into a real story.  He started making book's in 2004.

His first book was "The Stroogle" book.

Cameron told us how to make your own submarine like the one he used in "The Stroogle Sails the Seven Seas".  He designed the submersible with block's, cans of hairspray, pencils and other items.

 This is the submarine which I designed using all the available tools during our workshop.

 I would also like to be an a author.

Sad things what happen to turtles

Turtles mistake plastic bags for jellyfish. When turtles see plastic bags, they try to eat it
and this causes them to get sick or die. The problem with eating this plastic is that the turtles stomachs become filled with gas and they float on top of the water.

People are throwing small plastic items such as water and milk bottle tops and balloons into the water. The food web is changing because there is lots of turtles that are dying.

This is why we need more bins around the marine environments, like the foreshore of Manly.

Tangalooma Visit

On Monday we went to Tangalooma. First we went on a boat . It took 1 hour . There was a lady call Mal, she is a marine biologist.
